海南正在全力建设自贸港，现在以及未来会有越来越多的外国友人来到海口度假、工作以及生活，那么海口公共场所的标识语就显得格外重要。我们本期一起来看一看海口火山口地质公园的标识语纠错吧。

      石器文化

      原译：Stone Culture

      改译：Stoneware Culture

      解释：石器文化涉及“石器文明”中的诸多生产工具、武器与器皿的雕刻、图画、装饰品等，“记录”了人类最初的物质和精神生产实践活动，反映了当时人们的生产样式、生活方式与心态、思维，也从一个侧面体现了他们的价值观念与审美情趣。其中涉及了很多文化层面的东西，因此直接将石器译为stone（石头,石料，石块）是不合适的Stoneware: [U]pots, dishes,etc. made from clay that contains a small amount  of the hard stone called flint. 

     

      榨蔗石器

      原译：Juicer for Sugar Can

      改译：Juicer for Sugar Stoneware

      解释：Can表示容器时具体英译有：1.a metal container in which food and drink is sold (盛食品或饮料的）金属罐 ；a metal or plastic container fo holding or carrying liquids（装运液体用的）金属容器，塑料容器；a metal container in which liquids are kept under pressure and let out in a fine spray when you press a button on the lid 喷雾罐

      由can的英译以及图片上的中文描述可以看出，榨蔗用的是石器，而can多表示的是金属容器或塑料容器，因此也可改为stoneware即将榨蔗石器译为Juicer for Sugar Stoneware

      古石屋

      原译：Old Stone House

      改译：Ancient Stone House

      解释：Ancient : belonging to a period of history that is thousands of years in the past 古代的；Very old, having existed for a very long time 古老的，很老的         

      Old：多指：具体年龄；（多少）岁；年纪；老的；年纪大的；不年轻的；存在（或使用）时间长的；陈旧的；古老的；过去的；从前的；原来的，原先的；相识时间长的；结识久的。参考ancient前两条意思及old的英译可知，ancient更适合。

      火山口美食园

      原译：Volcano Gastronomic Garden

      改译：Crater Gastronomic Garden

      解释：Volcano：a mountain with a large opening at the top through which gases 

and lava are forced out into the air, or have been in the past 火山

      Crater: a large hole in the top of a volcano 火山口

      根据二者的英译可以得知 crater 是火山口的正确英译，且景区其他地方火山口的英译也用的crater。

      上山道

      原译：Climbing Direction

      改译：Climbing Track

      解释：direction:表示 方向；方位；趋势；动向；方面；目的；用法说明；操作指南；旅行指南；管理；指导；（电影导演的）指点，指示。根据以上英文释义可以发现direction并没有表示道路的意思

track: a rough path or road, usually one that has not been built but that has been made by people walking there（人踩出的）小道，小径

      track一词多指崎岖不平的路，根据景区该条上山道路的特点（崎岖不平 多台阶）track一词似乎更合适一些

  

      保护火山渣 严禁采挖

      原译：To Protect The Scoria, No Digging

      改译：Protect Scoria. No Mining

      解释：此处英译较长，标语一般简短有力，且英译中间用逗号隔开标点似乎也有所不妥，另外digging 一词多指     （If people or animals dig, they make a hole in the ground or in a pile of earth, stones, or rubbish.）挖掘，将手伸入… (以探寻某物)，刺入; 戳进

Mining: the process of getting coal and other minerals from under the ground; the industry involved in this由于火山渣有一定的商业价值用mining一词更合适一些

      块状熔岩

      原译：aa

      改译：block lava

      解释：aa指块状熔岩流 块状熔岩：block lava 此类是专有名词

      其他垃圾

      原译：Other Waste

      改译：Residual Waste

      解释：other waste是源自中国的“表述”，英语语境中已有的术语是 residual waste,在理解其含义的基础上，将其译为目标语中已有的表达较为准确，目标受众仅通过英译名就可知晓相关垃圾术语的含义。

      其他垃圾具体包括餐盒、餐巾纸、湿纸巾、卫生间用纸、污染严重的纸、烟蒂、纸尿裤、大骨头、贝壳、花盆、陶瓷等。

      翠趣园

      原译:Green Interest Garden

      改译:Green and Interesting Garden

      解释:“翠趣园”的含义应为“青翠的、有趣的田园”，而该标识却字对字地直译为“Green Interest”。建议修改为“Green and Interesting Garden”。更能传递出该园林郁郁葱葱、充满乐趣的特点。

      什么是活火山，死火山？

      原译：What is a active extinct volcano?

      改译：What is an active and an extinct volcano?

      解释：“active”中的“a”为元音发音，且该句中活火山与死火山应分开表达。建议修改为：What is an active and an extinct volcano?

      石山街

      原译:Shishan Street

      改译: Stone Mountain Street

      解释：“石山”应为“石头山”之意。因该条街在山之间，故因此得名。该标识直接采用拼音来标注，并没有传递出该街的特色。建议修改为：Stone Mountain Street。

      亩

      原译：mo

      改译：mu

      解释：“亩”是中国独有的面积单位，可以直接使用拼音“mu”。或者转换为“hectare”
